DIY- Studded High Waisted Cutoff Shorts

Hey Everyone!

Today I bring you a DIY! While I was on my mini vacation a few weeks ago my sister and I decided to create our own studded cutoff shorts. We went to Goodwill and purchased a pair of "mom jeans" aka high-waisted pants. Then, we went to Hobby Lobby and bought studs to put on our jeans. The rest of the supplies we got from what we had around the house.

Supply List:

  • Mom Jeans/High Waisted Jeans
  • Ruler or Tape Measure
  • Studs
  • Scissors
  • Pen
  • Fork or Grilling Tongs (or anything else you can think of to fray your shorts)

WARNING: Lots of Pictures!

Before and After
High-waisted jeans from Goodwill.

Measure where you want to cut your pants. Keep in mind that it's better to cut longer than you need than to cut too short. Make a mark on your pants so you know where to cut.

Take your ruler and line it up along where you made your initial mark.

Then, draw a straight line all the way across to give you a guideline for where you want to cut your pants.

Next, cut one pant leg at a time over where you drew your line.

To fray your shorts, grab a fork or something related and start pulling the ends of the shorts along with the fork to pull out strings.

To be completely honest using the fork started hurting my fingers so I began using these grilling tongs which seemed to be a little easier.

This is how they look so far...

I then decided to cut little slits into the front of the jeans and fray the holes as well. Oh, and I frayed a little section of the top of the pockets too. I had to use the scissors to cut tiny slits into the fabric then fray with my fork.

For the back, I frayed a little on the top of the back pockets.

Next, I began studding the back pockets. I alternated the studs from pyramid to round.

Notice how the stud only goes through the pocket and not through the the pocket and the second layer of jean.

On the front, I studded the right front small coin pocket and the two front belt loops.

Here's the backside of the jeans.

Notice the belt loop. For this, I had to wrap the back of the studs around the belt loop instead of punching it through. The belt loop fabric was too thick for the stud to go through.

Well, I think these shorts are super cute! I just don't think I have the body to pull them off very good. Idk. I still wear them but instead of tucking in my shirt, I leave it out untucked over the shorts.
Let me know what you think or if you will try this! :)

Back to School Makeup

Hey guys!
So yesterday marked my first day back in school! I'm not particularly excited but I figured some of you might be so I thought why not show this cute Nemo clip and do a "Back to School" makeup look :)

This look is very easy and took hardly no time. I used a drugstore palette from Wet N Wild called Comfort Zone. Only 3 eyeshadows, liner, and mascara used for the eyes. I think the eyes should take about 3-4 minutes total- the liquid liner taking up most of that time. Anyways, hope you enjoy and have a great start to your next school year!

Prime lids with an eyeshadow primer
Place a light champagne colored cream shadow in the inner corner and under the brow as a highlight base.

Pack on a shimmery light pink shade across the lid

Next, take a medium brown and contour your eyes by placing it into the crease. This will give your eyes more definition.

Apply a shimmery highlight shade into the inner corner and under the brow (on top of where you placed the cream base). This will brighten the eyes to make you appear less tired and more awake.

Apply a liquid liner across the top lashes only. This will draw the attention up and again add to the affect of being wide awake.

Finally, curl lashes and apply mascara!

Now you have a fresh-faced look perfect for back to school!

MAC Bare Study Dupe!

Hey guys!
Last night I was browsing around online and saw that Maybelline came out with their Limited Edition Scene on the Runway Collection for Fall. They came out with 4 Limited Edition Color Tattoo shades- Barely Beige, Gold Shimmer, Mossy Green, and Rich Mahogany. I picked up Barely Beige and Gold Shimmer.

I also saw online that the Barely Beige color is a close dupe for MAC's Bare Study Paint Pot. The only difference being that Bare Study has a slightly more yellow/gold undertone and Barely Beige leans more on the pearl-ish pink side.

When I heard about these I immediately told Brandon, my boyfriend, that I needed to go to Walgreens right then. IT WAS AN EMERGENCY! So we went around 9-something last night and I frantically searched the store then I finally saw them and ran to the display. It seemed that they had just put the display out because it was completely stocked (thank goodness!) So I picked up the 2 shades I felt I would use the most. To my surprise at the register, they rang up as BOGO 50% off. YESSSS! I secretly did a fist pull haha. I came walking out to the car with a cheesy grin on my face feeling so accomplished. I'm sure he thinks I'm crazy but getting drugstore limited edition products is a rush for me. It's seriously like a drug and it takes over my brain. I become so obsessed about finding the product and the fact that it's limited edition adds to the eagerness and excitement. I will go to any city that's relatively close just to get it. Then once I get it, it gets thrown into the black hole of makeup drawers and it's never seen again. just kidding!... but not really.

Haha ok so here are some pics and swatches of my latest find. Let me know if you've picked them up or have seen them at your local drugstore.

How to Fix Broken Powder

Hey everyone!
The other day my favorite, fairly new, Wet N Wild blush broke in my makeup bag. I was tempted to throw it away because of the mess it made in my bag and the fact that it was only three dollars and I already had an extra one... BUT I decided NOT to be wasteful and simply turn the process of fixing a broken powder into a blog post. :) Yay me! haha So let's begin, shall we?

Materials You’ll Need:

  • Broken Powder i.e. eyeshadow, blush, face compact, or anything else related
  • Something to crush the chunks (I hate that word) big pieces into a fine powder
  • Alcohol- Rubbing alcohol that is

  • I used this knife thing. I honestly don't know where it came from but figured it would do. lol And I used this Alcohol that has a small opening at the top to make it easier to drop single drops into the pan.

First, crush up the big pieces into a fine powder

    Like so...

Next, add a little rubbing alcohol.

I added quite a bit on accident. Oops! No big. It'll just take longer for it to dry :) Then, smooth the product out with your knife or gently tap the pan on the counter to even out the product.

*Optional- Clean the excess powder off of the remaining packaging to give it a cleaner look.

Wait a few hours for it to dry and you're done! Like new!.. almost.

Let me know if you try this out and what kind of results you get! :)

Miley Cyrus on September's Marie Claire- Inspired Look Tutorial

    Hey guys!
I was in Walmart the other day and saw the September Issue of Marie Claire with Miley on the front cover and was immediately drawn to it. I picked up a copy and decided that I wanted to do an inspired tutorial on her look. She looks so flawless and beautiful and I couldn't resist. So lets get started!

First prime your lids with an eyeshadow primer like UD Primer Potion. Then, take a bronze colored cream shadow and place on the outer half of your lid and into the crease- leaving the inner corner untouched.

Next, apply a shimmery coral toned shadow into the inner corner.

Next, apply a shimmery taupe into the crease.

For more dimension in the inner part of the crease I added the shade YDK from the UD Naked2 Palette. This is similar to the previous taupe color but has more of a cool tone and contains more shimmer.

Next, apply a reddish-brown shadow into the outer corner and blend into the middle of the lid and into the crease. Slightly blend over the coral shade in the inner corner to blend the two shades into one. Layering the second shadow over the top of the coral shadow will mix the two colors but will leave the warm coral undertone.

After, take a matte dark brown and place along the outer portion of the lash line and a little into the outer V. This will add depth to your eyes.

Next, take a matte skin toned highlight shade and highlight underneath your brows and in the inner corner.
Lastly, tight line the inner rims of your top lids underneath your lashes leaving the bottom waterline bare. Curl lashes and apply two coats of mascara for fullness.

Okay, Okay.. I know it's a little much but why not have a little fun with photoshop? lol
